Two explosions at significant Russian military installations, notably the Dyagilevo base in Ryazan, approximately 150 miles from Moscow, indicate that Vladimir Putin is now directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine.
According to a senior Ukrainian official who spoke to The New York Times, the explosions were unmanned drone strikes. This suggests that Ukraine intended to terrorize Russia to its very core.
The Tu-95 bombers that have been pummeling Ukraine's infrastructure for the past month were operating out of the Engels-2 facility, which was hit by the second explosion.
The distance between Engels and Ryazan and the Ukrainian border is between 300 and 450 miles, which is outside the reach of any known missiles that Ukraine is in possession of, according to the Times.
At least three people were killed, half a dozen were injured, and nuclear-capable Tu-95 and Tu-22M long-range missile bombers were destroyed in a fuel truck explosion at a base close to Ryazan.
According to the Guardian, footage shared on social media seems to show that a fighter jet or missile's distinctive whistle can be heard moments before the explosion at the Saratov base.
People in Crimea reported hearing explosions on Monday afternoon, which suggests a planned attack.
According to reporters at a briefing on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov initially confirmed that Putin had been informed of the "situation," but he made no assumptions about who might be responsible for it, saying quite unbelievable that he had only "read about it" in the media.
Later, the Kremlin claimed its forces had intercepted the drones, stating that the ensuing "fall and explosion of the wreckage" had resulted in the deaths of three servicemen and damage to two aircraft.
Air raid sirens across Ukraine signaled a volley of missile attacks almost immediately after the claims, many of which were directed at Zaporizhzhia, where at least two persons were claimed to have been killed when missiles demolished multiple residential buildings. Following Russian strikes, several cities reported having no water or electricity.
Government officials were looking for "information regarding events at military facilities," according to Roman Busargin, the governor of the Saratov region where the Engels-2 base is located, in a Telegram message. He also noted that "No emergencies have happened in the city's residential neighborhoods."
Interior minister of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko indicated they were paying close attention by posting pictures of the blasts on Telegram. Gerashchenko stated Monday morning that "certain sources say that this morning planes based at Engels and Ryazan airfields were set to target Ukrainian energy infrastructure yet again."
Other authorities remarked that Ukraine stands to gain from Russia's growing losses. Galileo made the finding that the Earth is spherical. The Kremlin did not study astronomy, favoring court astrologers instead, according to adviser Mykhailo Podolyak to Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram on Monday. If it were, people would be aware that when anything is launched into another country's airspace, it will eventually return to its original location.
