Tragic Loss in Spanish Football: CD Tenerife Striker Jesús de Miguel Passes Away at 30

MADRID — A deep cloud of sorrow has fallen over Spanish football following the heartbreaking death of CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, who passed away at the age of 30 after a devastating on field incident during a Segunda División match against FC Andorra.

A Fatal Collision on the Pitch

The tragic incident unfolded during a high stakes second tier Spanish league fixture. In the heat of play, De Miguel pursued an attacking ball into the penalty area and suffered a violent collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono. The heavy, direct impact to his chest caused the forward to collapse instantly onto the grass.

Medical staff from both clubs rushed onto the pitch within seconds as it became clear that the 30 year old had gone into cardiac arrest. Resuscitation efforts began immediately on the turf while shocked teammates and opposing players looked on in distress.

Emergency Care and ICU Admission

Once stabilized enough for transport, De Miguel was urgently rushed by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under critical supervision.

Despite the exhaustive efforts of the emergency medical team and ICU specialists, De Miguel tragically succumbed to severe complications arising from the trauma and cardiac arrest.

The Football World Mourns

News of De Miguel’s untimely passing sent shockwaves throughout Spanish football. CD Tenerife issued an official statement expressing profound grief and extending heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and supporters:

"Words cannot express the immense pain we feel. Jesús was not only a dedicated player on the pitch but a beloved figure in our locker room. Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this unbearable time."

Clubs across La Liga and the Segunda División, alongside the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), have expressed their condolences, with moments of silence scheduled across all upcoming league fixtures in memory of the Spanish forward.
