Nick Carter, the brother of Aaron Carter, was previously charged with raping musician Melissa Schuman. The accusations against Nick Carter have been refuted.

In a new case, Nick Carter is charged with raping a young autistic admirer. Carter has refuted the charges.
Carter has been sued by Shannon "Shay" Ruth, 39, who claims that he sexually assaulted her. She claimed that the Backstreet Boys member sexually assaulted her in 2001 when she was 17 years old during a news conference she held alongside her attorneys via a Facebook livestream.

During the news conference, the woman stated, "The last 21 years have been filled with agony, uncertainty, anger, embarrassment, and self-harm that are a direct result of Nick Carter raping me.
Even though I have cerebral palsy and am autistic, I think Nick Carter's actions and words to me have had the biggest and longest-lasting impact on my life. I recall him calling me a "retarded b——" and grabbing me after the rape, leaving marks on my arm.
Mark J. Boskovich, the woman's attorney, pointed out that the complaint against Carter also included the claims of three other women.
Nick Carter has a long history of mistreating women, according to Boskovich. "Shay is committed to prosecuting Carter. She considers it worthwhile to defend other women.
Ruth claimed that the reason she waited so long to come forward was because she was afraid of being "thrown in jail" for the alleged sexual assault.
Carter's lawyer, Michael Holtz, refuted the charges in a statement that was made available to Fox News Digital.
According to Holtz, "This claim about an incident that allegedly occurred more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also completely incorrect."
"Unfortunately, Ms. Ruth has been duped into making false accusations against Nick for a number of years; these accusations have altered frequently and dramatically over time. There is absolutely no truth to this claim and no one should be duped by a press stunt put on by an opportunistic lawyer, as the courts will swiftly discover, "He went on.
Carter had already been charged with sexual assault. Melissa Schuman, a member of the popular female band, made a similar allegation about the artist in 2017. At the time, Carter refuted the claim, claiming, "Melissa never hinted to me during our relationship or afterward that anything we did wasn't mutually agreed upon. I continued to love and encourage Melissa both personally and professionally as we collaborated to record a song and perform."
The statute of limitations had already passed at the time, thus prosecutors decided not to press charges against Carter at the time.
According to prosecutors, "the reporting party said that she was the victim of a sexual assault performed by the suspect in his flat in 2003." "The limitation period expires in 2013. As a result, it is decided against doing a review of the evidence's advantages and disadvantages."

In a number of tweets, Carter's brother Aaron Carter formerly referred to Nick as a "serial rapist" and made comparisons to Jeffrey Epstein. At the time, the two were at odds.
In the days leading up to his death on November 5th, Aaron had wished to mend his relationship with his brother. In a podcast interview at the time, he expressed his regret to the pop star.
Aaron stated on the "No Jumper" podcast, "Unfortunately, I tried to play God and speak up for a supposed rape victim of Nick. "I also want to express my affection for my brother and my apologies. I apologize. I should have known better."
